If multiple professions from the entertainment industry could be squeezed inside a single vessel, Matt Stone is probably that personified vessel. He is an American actor, animator, writer, director, producer, singer and songwriter and best known for co-creating the controversial, satirical cartoon South Park with his partner in crime, Trey Parker.
On May 26, 1971, in Houston, Texas, United States, Matthew Richard Stone was born to economics professor Gerald Whitney Stone and Jewish mother Sheila Lois(Belasco), based on whom the South Park characters Gerald and Sheila Broflovski were named. Along with sister Rachel Stone was raised in a Denver suburb, Littleton, Colorado.
Since Stone met former Comedy Central executive in 2001, the couple has been inseparable ever since. They officially tied the knot in 2008 and have two adorable children. Stone considers himself ethnically Jewish and regarding his beliefs identifies himself as an atheist. Politically he considers himself as a libertarian, while he hates conservatives and “fu****g hate”s liberals.
Successful is the least of the description that might be attributed to Stone’s career. During graduation days with Trey Parker, the duo created their first feature length musical, Cannibal!: The Musical in 1993. After moving to L.A they co wrote Orgazmo in 1997, but their short animation film The Spirit of Christmas about four foul-mouthed grade-schoolers who had a satirical take on society with crude comedy had begun to become the Internet’s earliest viral videos, which landed them a deal with Comedy Central leading to the birth of South Park in 1997.
Parker and Stone co-write the episodes, voice several characters and would continue doing so till at least 2019 when South Park reaches its 23rd season. The duo has produced music and video games based on the show and have worked on their feature film, South Park: Bigger, Longer &Uncut which earned them approval from both critics and fans.
Stone has also produced several feature films and Television series which include Team America: World Police and ever co-wrote and produced the hit Broadway show Book of Mormon along with Parker and composer Robert Lopez. In 2013 Parker and Stone established their own production studio which they named Important Studios, following their fun and satirical naming rituals.
Education: Stone attended The Heritage High School after which he grabbed a double major in Mathematics and art from the University of Colorado. During his graduation years at the university Stone met long-time friend and collaborator Trey Parker who filmed their first full length project Cannibal: The Musical while still enrolled in the university.

Matt Stone has a current net worth of around $430 million US dollars as of 2017. Even before the first episode of South Park was aired Stone’s earnings with Comedy Central was reported to be around $30 million from merchandise sales and royalties alone. In 1998 that figure increased five folds where Stone along with the network earned roughly $150 million. His 2007 contract with Comedy Central earned him around $75 million through digital rights, merchandise selling and royalties for South Park.
Stone and Parker’s Broadway hit Book of Mormon has grossed over $200 million and the New York Times reported that the show makes around $1.6 million a week, with touring versions of that show and a Chicago production bringing in about identical figures. Matt Stone Business Model
No doubt is there about how rich he is, as is blessed with nonpareil talent and sheer luck. All his earnings are from endorsements, his successful career and his business. Back in 2013, Trey and Matt planned to recreate their popular stage musical in the big screen, The Book of Mormon with the help of their 300 million dollars production company, Important Studios. The owners are now enjoying heavy profits from the company.
It is a rather foolhardy task to list down all of Stone’s work on a single sheet, but some of his noteworthy works are listed below:
• South Park(1997-present)
• South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut(1999)
• Run Ronnie Run(2002)
• Team America: World Police(2004)
• The Aristocrats(2005)

Some less Known facts about Matt Stone:
• Half of the budget for his film Orgazmo came from a Japanese porn company Kuki
• Stone and Parker were asked to write the prequel to Dumb and Dumber
• Trey and Matt produce every episode of South Park within a week and failed to meet their deadline for the first time in the seventeenth season
• Post South Park’s double bill “200” and “201” centred around censorship and the Muhammad cartoon controversy, the Simpsons creators sent Parker and Stone flowers for pulling off this great feat.
The last season of South Park had just ended and Matt and Trey commented that “It’s tricky now because satire has become reality,” which was followed by the final statement “So we decided to kind of back off and let them do their comedy and we’ll do ours.”This was a harsh comment on the current US Politics. The duo was recently in Melbourne where they are going to premiere their popular staged musical The Book of Mormon.
We all love Matt Stone and wish that the duo goes strong till the end. The man with talent has won everyone’s heart and we are expecting something extraordinary to come from him in the near future.
