William Ray Norwood Jr., who goes by the stage name Ray J, is an American rapper, songwriter, singer, actor, and a television artist. Ray was originally born in McComb, Mississippi to an American Gospel Singer and a choir director, Willie Norwood, and a district manager for H&R Block, Sonja Bates-Norwood. He has an older sister named Brandy who happens to be a quite popular singer and multi-platinum record producer. Also, Ray is the cousin of Snoop Dogg, an American rapper, and actor.
During his childhood, Ray along with his whole family moved to Los Angeles, California. During 1989, Ray had made his way through various television commercials, that too at an early age of eight. From 1993 to 1994, he acted as the foster son in The Sinbad Show, which had also starred David Adkins, a comedian. With his sister given to play the lead role, he had also starred in a sitcom called Moesha. This was the period of time that marked as the stepping stone for Ray’s acting journey.
